The following are the supplies I used to create this look: striping tape, Sinful Colors Amethyst, Zoya Kendal, and top coat. I followed Ivana Thinks Pink's color blocking tutorial(Click here to view her tutorial). Notice I didn't follow the tutorial correctly hahaha or my striped colors would have been reversed on one of the nails (notice how on one of her nails it starts with dark pink on top and the other nail starts with light pink. Both of mine start with dark purple). I need to pay attention to detail!
This polish is too amazing to put "nail art" over!!! Mentality Nail Polish hit the jackpot with this polish! I just love it! This is two coats of Mentality Rapture, a sparkling coppery red holographic polish.
I must admit this mani was a failure in my opinion. I was going for a Valentine look, but instead I think I got a bloody animal look lol...
I started with a bare nail. I did a gradient with OPI Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh? and Kleancolor Metallic Red. I sponged each nail about 2-3 times. I stamped on the animal print with Kleancolor Metallic Red and Cheeky stamping plate CH3 over the entire nail. I should I have stopped with the gradient and added a coat of top coat ... =)
Photos show no top coat. I was afraid it would smear the stamped design.
I started with two coats of OPI Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh? For the dot pattern "template" (see photo below), I used aKonad stamping polish in white and the Konad M79 stamping plate. I added one top of matte top coat. For the pops of color, I used a dotting tool, Kleancolor Metallic Green, Kleancolor Metallic Aqua, and Kleancolor Metallic Fuchsia.
I started with two coats of Avon Lime Splatter (a light mint green color). Using the sponge method, I did a gradient with the Avon polish as well as Spoiled Visually Slimming (a black polish). I added one coat of Nfu-Oh 056 over the entire nail. I love how the flakies shift from green to blue!
My inspiration for this pink and silver spotted mani came from a mani I saw on Pinterest. Check out Beautylish's mani by clicking here.
The products I used in this mani are A-England Excalibur (only ONE coat!), Essence Ultimate Pink (two coats), Kleancolor Black for stamping, and DRK-A Stamping Plate. No top coat. I've been lazy with using top coat lately. Mainly because I am out of my favorite (China Glaze Fast Forward top coat). Every time I use another brand I have in my drawer, it either smears my stamping, takes forever to dry, or turns my mani matte. I've been procrastinating getting a new bottle. I've been out for weeks now. =)
I saw a hand painted mani by Simply Rin that she titled Blue Wave, which resembled a gorgeous blue ombre rose. Click here to see the mani. I thought it was really pretty, so I wanted to (somewhat) recreate the mani using stamping plates. I have absolutely NO skills outside the stamping plates.
I started with two coats of HITS Twist. See last photo for swatch. I was disappointed in this polish. First, I hate the brushes the brand uses. The are too large and wide for my liking. Secondly, although my photo looks like there was good coverage, there wasn't. It applied streaky and would have required a third coat. I didn't add a third coat because I knew I was stamping over it. Also, the polish wanted to pool around my cuticles. Thirdly, I was expecting MORE flakies! =) Maybe I got a bad bottle or it was user error.
I stamped on the rose design with Bundle Monster stamping plate BM-323. Instead of covering the full image with a single color, I did three sections of color on the image using Konad stamping polishes in white and baby blue. Basically, I would put a stripe of white, then baby blue, and then white. I scraped off like normal in a downward motion and stamped. Photos show no top coat.
This is such an AMAZING polish!!!! This is two coats of Dandy Nails Chilled Down. I love its light base and flecks of gold and blue.
I first stamped on a plaid pattern with China Glaze 2NITE (a gorgeous blue holo), but it didn't show as much as I wanted. (Can you see it behind the xoxo design?) So I stamped over it with the xoxo design using Ulta Gold Rush and Vivid Lacquer VL001 stamping plate. The plaid pattern was on this plate as well.
This was my New Year's mani... I started with two coats of Glitter Gal 3D Silver Holo. On my accent nail, I added one good coat of OPI Crown Me Already!. I stamped on the basket weave pattern with DRK-B stamping plate and Kleancolor Black. Can you see the silver holo polish peeking through under the stamped pattern? Photos show no top coat.
Two coats of Glitter Gal 3D Silver Holo with no top coat.
